Bathymetry Maps
Bathymetry Maps — Privacy Policy
No account, sign-in, ads, or analytics SDK. The app contacts NOAA ENC ArcGIS REST and Apple MapKit tiles only. Your AOI is not sent to Marshall’s servers. We do not sell personal information.
Bathymetry Maps (“the App”) is published by Marshall Tyler Frith. This policy explains what information the App uses.
Summary
- No account, sign-in, ads, or analytics SDK.
- Marshall Frith does not operate a Bathymetry Maps backend that stores your areas, soundings, or exports.
- Network traffic from the App goes to NOAA ENC ArcGIS REST (sounding queries) and Apple MapKit (map tiles / basemap) only.
- The area of interest (AOI) you draw is sent from your device to NOAA when you pull soundings; it is not sent to Marshall’s servers.
- We do not sell personal information.
Information the App uses
Map basemap. MapKit may contact Apple Maps services to draw Standard and Satellite (or Hybrid) map tiles.
NOAA ENC soundings. When you pull soundings for an AOI, the App queries NOAA’s public ENC Direct ArcGIS REST services (encdirect.noaa.gov) from your device with the geometry of the area you drew (harbour and approach chart scales by default). Depths shown are charted feet MLLW from those public charts. Those requests go from your device to NOAA; Marshall Frith does not proxy or log them.
Exports you choose. If you export a KMZ and use the share sheet, that file stays under your control on your device and wherever you send it. Export is user-initiated.
No non-exempt encryption. Export compliance declares no non-exempt encryption (ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption is no). The App uses standard HTTPS only.
What we do not collect
- No user accounts or profiles.
- No advertising identifiers for ads.
- No third-party analytics or crash SDKs in the App for tracking.
- No Bathymetry Maps backend that stores your AOI, sounding results, or KMZ exports.
- No BlueTopo, eHydro, GMRT, or tide services on iOS v1 (those exist on the desktop tool only).
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
