#1 Morse, #2 AeroBusiness, #3 MeasureGeo, #4 Starship Lander, #5 Improv, article When Satellites Go Quiet, People Notice, on X Loomer discovers ADS-B. Yay. Welcome to the party. How about you ask what / who said Iran would be a cake walk? Did they think Iran would go like Venezuela? If so, they should resign. Is Iran a threat? Sure, but you kill all the leadership and now we're negotiating with Jafar in HR. I thought we won this "conflict" 50+ times.

Ship Finder — Privacy Policy

Data Not Collected. No account, sign-in, ads, or analytics, and no developer server that receives what you do in the app. We do not sell personal information.

Ship Finder (“the App”) is published by Marshall Tyler Frith. This policy explains what information the App uses.

Data Not Collected

Ship Finder does not collect data into an account. There is no account, no analytics, and no developer server that receives what you do in the App.

What stays on the phone

  • aisstream.io key. If you paste one, it stays in this phone’s Keychain. It is not saved in settings and not written to the App’s log.
  • AIS positions. Positions you watch or import stay in Application Support on this phone.
  • Imported CSV files. Import AIS reads a CSV you choose, for example one exported from Kpler or another AIS provider. The file is read on the phone. The App does not connect to Kpler, does not ask for a password, and does not store one. A column named password is ignored.
  • Bundled recording. A short AIS recording from aisstream.io ships inside the App and is read on the phone.
  • Exports. GeoJSON, KML, and KMZ files stay on the phone until you choose to share them. A shared file includes the scene id, acquisition time, sensor details, and the detections you selected.
  • Photo library (add only). If you save a card tour film, the App asks to add it to your photo library. It does not read your photos.

Requests the app makes

  • Scene search. Finding scenes sends the box you drew and the date range to Microsoft Planetary Computer (planetarycomputer.microsoft.com). The App also gets a short-lived read token there, then reads the public radar image from Microsoft’s storage that the catalogue points to (blob.core.windows.net).
  • Watch area (optional). While Watch area is open, the App sends your aisstream.io key and the bounding box to stream.aisstream.io. The key is not sent anywhere else. Recording stops when you leave the App, and that gap is not filled in.
  • Map. The base map is Apple Maps (MapKit), which loads map tiles from Apple.

What we do not collect

  • No user accounts or profiles.
  • No advertising identifiers and no tracking.
  • No third-party analytics or crash SDKs.
  • No location, contacts, camera, microphone, or Bluetooth access.
  • No Ship Finder backend.
  • No sale or share of personal information.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
