NDVI Scope
NDVI Scope — Privacy Policy
No account, sign-in, ads, or analytics SDK. Address search uses Apple services. Sentinel-2 imagery is fetched from public Element84 / COG hosts. Fields and KMZ stay on your phone. We do not sell personal information.
NDVI Scope (“the App”) is published by Marshall Tyler Frith. This policy explains what information the App uses.
Summary
- No account, sign-in, ads, or analytics SDK.
- Marshall Frith does not operate an NDVI Scope backend that stores your fields, NDVI results, or exports.
- Typed coordinates are parsed on the device and never leave the phone for geocoding.
- Address / place search uses Apple MapKit local search and, if needed, Apple CLGeocoder — not a third-party geocoder.
- Scene search and imagery use the public Element84 Earth Search STAC API and Cloud-Optimized GeoTIFF asset URLs (typically AWS-hosted Sentinel-2).
- We do not sell personal information.
Information the App uses
Location services. The shipping Info.plist does not declare a Location usage string, and the App does not call Core Location authorization for “locate me.” The map is MapKit. Address lookup uses Apple’s MKLocalSearch and optional CLGeocoder with the text you type; those Apple requests go from your device. Raw “lat, lon” input is parsed locally only.
Network requests — Sentinel-2. When you search dates or analyze a field, the App POSTs to https://earth-search.aws.element84.com/v1/search (collection sentinel-2-l2a, no API key) with your AOI / date window, then reads red, NIR, and SCL COG bands via HTTP byte-range requests to the hrefs returned by STAC. NDVI and problem-area math run on the device.
Map basemap. MapKit may contact Apple Maps services to draw the map.
Saved fields on device. Named field outlines and related metadata are stored in the app’s Application Support folder as NDVIScope/fields.json (not uploaded to Marshall Frith).
KMZ exports on device. Problem-area KMZ files are written under Documents/exports/ and can be shared with the system share sheet. Content stays under your control on the device and wherever you send it.
No camera or photo library access for NDVI Scope (no camera / photo usage strings in the shipping Info.plist).
No non-exempt encryption. Shipping builds should declare no non-exempt encryption for export compliance (ITSAppUsesNonExemptEncryption = no). Confirm that key is present before TestFlight / App Store submit.
What we do not collect
- No user accounts or profiles.
- No advertising identifiers for ads.
- No third-party analytics or crash SDKs in the App for tracking.
- No NDVI Scope backend that stores your fields, scenes, or KMZ files.
Children
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
