ChangeLens — Privacy Policy

Data Not Collected. No account, sign-in, ads, analytics, or tracking, and no developer server that receives what you do in the app. We do not sell personal information.

ChangeLens (“the App”) is published by Marshall Tyler Frith. This policy explains what information the App uses and where its requests go.

Data Not Collected

ChangeLens does not collect data. There is no account or sign-in, no ads, no analytics or crash SDK, and no tracking. There is no ChangeLens server, so the developer receives nothing from the App.

What stays on the device

  • Cached images and search results. To load faster, the App keeps recent scene search results (for up to 24 hours) and image crops (up to about 200 MB) in its cache folder on your device. iOS may clear this cache at any time, and deleting the App removes it.
  • Photo library (add only). If you tap Save to Photos, iOS asks once for permission to add images. The App uses it only to save the comparison image. It does not read, browse, or upload your photos.
  • Sharing. A comparison image leaves the App only when you choose where to send it from the Share sheet.

Requests the App makes

All requests use HTTPS. None of them carry an account, a device identifier, or your location. The App does not ask for your location.

  • Place search and the map. Text you type in the search box, and the center of the area you pick (used to look up its time zone), are sent to Apple's geocoding and search services. The base map is Apple Maps (MapKit), which loads map tiles from Apple. These are handled under Apple's privacy policy.
  • Sentinel-2 images (True color, SWIR). The App sends the bounding box of your area and a date range to Element 84 Earth Search (earth-search.aws.element84.com). If that does not answer, it sends the same search to the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem catalogue (stac.opensearch.dataspace.copernicus.eu). It then reads the matching parts of public Copernicus Sentinel-2 image files from Amazon S3 (sentinel-cogs.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com and e84-earth-search-sentinel-data.s3.us-west-2.amazonaws.com).
  • Sentinel-1 radar (Radar, Blend). The App sends the bounding box and a date range to Microsoft Planetary Computer (planetarycomputer.microsoft.com), gets a short-lived anonymous read token there, and reads the matching parts of public radar files from Microsoft's storage (sentinel1euwestrtc.blob.core.windows.net).

These services receive the request itself, including your IP address, as any web server does. The App connects to no other hosts.

What we do not collect

  • No user accounts or profiles.
  • No advertising identifiers and no tracking.
  • No third-party analytics or crash SDKs.
  • No location, contacts, camera, microphone, or Bluetooth access.
  • No ChangeLens backend.
  • No sale or share of personal information.

Children

The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The effective date above will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
