Privacy Policy

There is no account to create, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party SDK, and no server behind the app. It runs with the aircraft in flight mode and the radio off, because that is the situation it was built for.

What the app can reach, and where it goes

Kompressor asks for three permissions. Each is requested only at the moment you use the feature that needs it, and iOS will not grant any of them without your consent.

Declining any of them disables only the feature that needed it. The rest of the app continues to work.

Your files stay on your device

Everything Kompressor does — reading a photo, cropping it, encoding it, packing a GPS track, building an ATAK package, reassembling a received transfer — happens inside the app on your phone. No file, and no part of a file, is uploaded, mirrored, backed up to a service, or sent anywhere by the app.

Finished files are written to the app's own storage so the share sheet can hand them to you. Because the app supports file sharing, you can also reach them through the Files app. Deleting Kompressor removes them along with everything else the app has stored.

What is remembered between launches

Three things are kept in the app's local storage on your device, and none of them leave it:

• Presets — the named budget profiles you save.
• Session record — a log of what you compressed on this device and how large the result was, which you can export as CSV or clear.
• Receive inbox — blocks of a partially received transfer, held so a file that arrives across two sessions can still be assembled.

This storage belongs to the app on this device. It is not synced, not shared with the developer, and not readable by anyone else. Deleting the app deletes it.

Location, and how it is handled

Kompressor never asks for Location Services and never queries your device's position. It has no location permission because it does not use one.

It does read the position already recorded inside a file you choose — the GPS coordinates an iPhone writes into a photo's EXIF metadata, the position stored in a video, or the coordinates in a GPX track. This is read on the device, for two purposes you control:

• Placing the picture at its coordinates in an ATAK data package, so it lands on a map rather than in a folder.
• Burning a caption with the position into the corner of the image.

Both are options you switch on. If you do not use them, position information is simply not carried into the output. Note that most image compression strips metadata as a side effect, so a forged file generally does not retain the original's EXIF unless you asked for one of the above.

When you share a file

Kompressor's job ends at the iOS share sheet. When you choose where a finished file goes — ATAK, iTAK, TAKAware, Messages, AirDrop, Files, or anything else — that file leaves the app and enters the destination you picked, and how it is handled from there is governed by that app or service, not by this one.

The same is true of text armor and packet output you copy and transmit yourself. Kompressor produces the bytes; you decide where they go. Nothing is sent automatically, and nothing is sent without an explicit action from you.

Children

Kompressor collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. There are no accounts, no messaging with other users, no advertising, and no content served from a network.

Your rights

Rights such as access, correction, deletion, and portability apply to personal data a developer holds about you. Because no personal data is ever transmitted to or held by the developer, there is nothing on our side to access, correct, export, or delete.

The data stored on your own device is yours and under your control: the session record can be exported as CSV or cleared from within the app, and deleting the app removes everything it has kept.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Kompressor adds a feature that touches the network — and none is planned — this policy will be updated before that version ships, and the effective date at the top will change. A version of this policy that predates a release cannot describe it, so the date is the thing to check.
